Premium native discovery platform Outbrain has announced several movements in its regional leadership team, with plans to make new hires. This comes on the heels of two senior appointments it made in February, after closing a “record year” in the region with expansion into new markets, the company said in a statement.

Yoav Tourel has been promoted to Head of Sales for Asia Pacific, and Helena Gavros will move into the role of Head of Brands and Agencies for Southeast Asia. In his role, Tourel will manage the Amplify revenue and oversee all sales team across the region. With over 10 years of digital marketing experience, Tourel is among the founding members of Outbrain’s ANZ team.

Joining Outbrain in February 2017, Gavros has in a short time played a critical role in strengthening the company’s relationships with brands and agencies in the region. She will be responsible for the Amplify revenue for Southeast Asia, and will manage the sales team based in Singapore.
Meanwhile in India, another strategic market for Outbrain, Anand Makhija has been promoted to Director of Business Development. Makhija, a passionate advocate for stakeholder engagement, will focus on building and managing relationships with publishers and advertisers alike.

Anand Makhija said, “I’m excited to be taking on a new role at such a pivotal point in Outbrain’s history, as well as that of our industry. Native discovery has taken flight in India, especially with the uptick in internet penetration and race to offer high-level engagement – and shows no sign of slowing down. We can only expect more revenue opportunities across media platforms, and I look forward to working alongside such a strong team at a time of unprecedented growth.”

Announcing these appointments, Andrew Burke, Managing Director, APAC, said, "Outbrain operates in a space where talent is extremely dynamic, and losing the war for talent is a real risk. These moves put the right people in the right roles, and better positions us to continue on our growth trajectory in Asia Pacific.”

He added, “On top of that, their unwavering commitment to success has enabled Outbrain to advance the Discovery and Native Advertising conversation – we cannot be more thrilled to have them with us as we scale new heights.”
