Former Infosys CEO Vishay Sikka has been elected to Oracle’s board of directors, according to media reports. Sikka, who had recently launched AI startup Vianai Systems, is a world-renowned authority in the field of artificial intelligence and was a top executive at SAP.

Announcing Sikka’s nomination to the prestigious board, Oracle CTO Larry Ellison said: "Vishal is one the world's leading experts in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.” He added that Sikka’s skills and experience will help provide “strategic vision” to steer Oracle in the right direction.

"He is a most welcome addition to the Oracle Board," Ellison stated.

Oracle CEO Safra Catz added that Sikka understands how Oracle’s Gen2 Cloud Infrastructure, Autonomous Database, and Application can come together to enable the tech giant’s customers to “drive business value and adapt to change.”

Calling Oracle “the heartbeat and lifeblood” of every large organisation in the world, Sikka says that the tech giant is uniquely placed – with respect to applications and infrastructure – to inspire innovation and growth.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to join the Oracle Board and be part of this journey," Sikka added.
