Cannes Lions appoints Simon Cook as Managing Director

Ascential plc, the parent company of Cannes Lions, has announced the appointment of Simon Cook as the creative festival’s Managing Director, leading the overall business, according to media reports. The new role is a promotion for Cook, who currently is Vice-President, Creative Excellence.
As the Managing Director of Cannes Lions, Cook will reportedly focus on expanding Cannes Lion’s learning and advisory offerings, as well as its digital information services.
Talking about Cook’s appointment, Chairman of Cannes Lions and President of Ascential Events Philip Thomas reportedly said that Cook has proved himself to be absolutely the right person for the job.
“He has been the driving force behind many of Cannes Lions’ innovations over recent years and already leads a significant portion of the company, including the Awards, Jury, Learning and Advisory arms of the business,” Thomas was quoted as saying in media reports.
Cook, meanwhile, reportedly said as the team and he take this exciting next step, they will be dedicated to helping people and their businesses unlock their creative potential.
