The advertising industry has lost one of its most respected professionals with the passing of Jishnu Sen.

Always passionate about building brands he had a good and exciting journey in Advertising. Jishnu's career spanned more than three decades and took him across India and Asia. He started out at JWT, before moving to Young & Rubicam, where he handled regional responsibilities and worked on some of the world's best-known brands. Those experiences shaped his understanding of brands, business and people.

His longest and most unforgettable stint was with Grey Group India. He joined to lead the Mumbai office, later became Chief Operating Officer and then President and CEO. During his years at Grey, the agency grew significantly, expanded its capabilities and earned recognition as one of the country's leading communications companies. He believed in giving people responsibility, backing good ideas and building strong client relationships.

When he stepped away from agency life, Jishnu didn't slow down. He worked with different type of businesses as a consultant and advisor, helping both established companies and young start-ups with brand building, marketing and growth. He enjoyed these conversations and was always happy to share what he had learnt over the years.

For those who knew him, Jishnu was much more than the positions he held. He was approachable, thoughtful and generous with his time. He enjoyed meeting people, exchanging ideas and encouraging younger professionals. He loved challenges and was always positive in his approach and thinking.

Jishnu's contribution to advertising will be remembered for a long time. So will the encouragement he gave to colleagues, clients and friends. He leaves behind not just a successful career, but the respect and goodwill of everyone who had the opportunity to work with him over a period of time on various occasions.

He will be greatly missed.
