NEW Shobhana Bhartia nominated to Rajya Sabha
Shobhana Bhartia, Vice-chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media Ltd, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha.

Shobhana Bhartia, Vice-chairperson and Editorial Director of HT Media Ltd, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha along with noted filmmaker Shyam Benegal and art historian Kapila Vatsyayan.
Bhartia is also the Chairperson of the PTI Board of Directors. Her father K K Birla has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha in the past.
Other media persons who are members of the current Rajya Sabha include Vijay Darda, Chairman, Lokmat Group, Gireesh Sanghi, Chairman & MD, Vaarttha Group, Chandan Mitra, Editor, Pioneer, Shahid Siddiqui of Nai Duniya Urdu, and senior journalist Balbir Punj, formerly of the Express Group.
When Bhartiya joined Hindustan Times in 1986, she was the first woman Chief Executive of a national newspaper and one of the youngest too. HT, under her leadership, has been on an expansion mode in recent times. After launching Hindustan Times in Mumbai, the group has also forayed into the FM Radio business bagging stations in major metros. It has also come out with plans for a business daily.
The three nominated members will replace Fali S Nariman, Lata Mangeshkar and media personality Cho Ramaswamy who retired recently.
