Myntra to take legal action against ScrollDroll for controversial creative

Post the extensive backlash which Myntra received for its creative hurting Hindu sentiments, the company has now announced that it will be taking legal action against the digital marketing agency ScrollDroll which made it.

According to Myntra, the creative was done and was posted by ScrollDroll without their knowledge or approval.

The brand was trying to undo the damage by interacting with fans directly and retweeting stories that it was not Myntra’s fault, so why BoycottMyntra?

Even though the agency apologised and tweeted that Myntra is nowhere associated with the artwork directly or indirectly, and the poster was immediately removed in February, but the hashtag #BoycottMyntra kept on trending throughout the day.

Few Twitter influencers tweeted in favour of Myntra and made fun of the ‘herd-mentality’ that was on full display on Twitter.

A similar social media outburst happened few months back and Amazon was in the midst of major controversy, when the e-commerce company was offering a sale on doormats with images of Hindu gods and goddess on them. Soon #BoycottAmazon started trending on Twitter and the brand had to remove the doormats from the site after the social media backlash.
