Mediaedge:cia Chennai has bagged the account of Acme Fitness, a company dealing in fitness products. The appointment was made following a multi-agency pitch process. However, the formal appointment takes effect from the start of the new fiscal year in April.
MS Kumaran, Head - Marketing at Acme Fitness, confirmed the news and added, “Acme had been engaged in talks with MEC since November 2008. Over the past three months or more, MEC demonstrated a deep understanding of our business, mapped new opportunities, and importantly helped Acme explore new business models. The choice was made easier by the clear demonstration that their young team is comfortable with both conventional media and new age media.”
Commenting on the account win, Sree Neelakand Dhan, Business Director, MEC, said, “When your client says that sessions with MEC team is a hot breeding ground for new business models and opportunities, then we know we are behaving like solution providers and not like vanilla media-planners.”
Due to confidentiality requested by the client, the agency has not divulged the account size, but has hinted a business size in line with the client’s account size last year.
It may be recalled that MEC Chennai was involved with the Acme and Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Ghajini’ campaign that went live in the first fortnight of February 2009.
