The awards saw Suhel Seth give a brilliant key note address, while Madison won the Media Agency of the Year and almost swept the entire awards in the media category with the most number of medals.

MADDYs 2018, the Annual Awards Nite of the Advertising Club of Madras kicked off on March 31 at the ITC Grand Chola with the welcome address by the President, Anbuchezhian K.

This was followed by a panel discussion titled “360 degree business solutions in the new era” Narayan Devanathan, Chief Strategy Officer of Dentsu Agencies moderated the panel discussion and the panelists team of Mr. B Srinivasan, MD, Vikatan Group, Mr. Mahesh Anand, President, Nippon Paint, Habib Nizamuddin, CMO IPG Media Brands and Mr. R Lakshmipathy, Founder Madras Central, shared their experiences and how they looked at effective solutions becoming a yard stick for Awards in the coming years.



There was a scintillating key note address by Suhel Seth, Founder, Counselage, who had the audience spell bound with his thought provoking address. He said advertising has to reclaim the position it enjoyed in the yester-years. He lamented the disappearance of many habits in advertising professionals like reading, inability to have a conversation with clients. He said unless all these makes a comeback advertising will never get the respect it deserves from clients.



He also said advertising and history are the only things that can be reflective of the culture and society we are in and to that extent advertising has a key role to play in our lives. He told the younger generation to enjoy the profession and extolled them to get back advertisings rightful place. Noting that Madras had produced stalwarts in advertising like S R Aiyer, R K Swamy, it gave him great pride in addressing members of the Madras Advertising Club. He congratulated the winners and said the right awards are when the works get clients a better market share and changes perception and consumer beliefs.



The Creative Agency of the year went to Sight Media, who won the most number of golds across categories for work done for Meme Marathon. The other winners were OPN for work done for Vijay TV’s Big Boss, CSK etc, Design Foundry for VBJ, Hyatt Hyderabad, etc, Banana Brand Works for Hindu, Hyatt Mumbai, etc.
