Industry leaders mourned his departure.
Samar Singh Sheikhawat, an industry veteran, posted: “Samir Gangahar my friend and JWT client servicing legend while I was at Pepsico, has gone to that great big advertising jungle in the sky. A wonderful professional, really funny guy, and all round thorough gentleman. Gone way too soon. Such sad and shocking news. R.I.P.”
Kumuda Rao, who was earlier with Leo Burnett, said: "This is really sad news about Samir. He was based in Delhi, so we didn’t really work together. Just met him in a couple of workshops. But he came across as a quiet but strong supporter of creative. When he did speak up, everyone listened - because it made a lot of sense."
"The real man of advertising...Advertising will miss him sorely", shared Bindu Sethi who knew from her days at JWT.
"Sam loved advertising. Sam loved laughter and we loved sam. He was our chandler and on heartbroken nights our handler. There is not one secret that Anuja and I didn't share with him. He made our scripts better. He made our days better," shared Swati Bhattacharya.
