If the recent protests in Jammu and Kashmir have failed to evoke real conversations and deliberations, one community has raised its voice attempting to funnel people’s attention towards the issue through hard-hitting creatives of celebrities on social media.
A Pakistani organisation named 'Never Forget Pakistan' has launched an online campaign to raise attention to the use of pellet guns against violent protesters by security forces in Kashmir. The campaign is being promoted with various hashtags like #IndiaCantSee, #LetKashmirDecide and #KashmirKillings.
The organisation has uploaded photo-shopped images of celebrities on Facebook, showing what they would look like if they had been injured by the pellet guns. It questions their silence on the Kashmir issue. Some of the celebrities whose faces have been morphed are Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Mark Zuckerberg, Virat Kohli, Hrithik Roshan, Kajol, Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt, Aishwarya Rai, Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The caption used in each of the photos is meant to describe the alleged atrocities which Kashmiris have faced during the protests that have rocked the Valley since July 7 after Wani’s death.
