Neil French, one of advertising’s most creative minds, has passed away. French breathed his last in Majorca at the age of 81.

Born in Britain, he became a towering figure in Asian advertising. in his long and illusrtrious career, he was associated with several leading agencies, including Ogilvy & Mather and WPP. He is known for creating outstanding ads for Chivas Regal, Kaminomoto Hair Tonic and the famously fictitious XO Beer, a made-up brew promoted so convincingly that people tried ordering it in bars.

French’s impact stretched across Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand, shaping the region’s creative culture and elevating Asian advertising onto the global stage.

His lifelong contributions earned him some of the industry’s top honours, including the Clio Lifetime Achievement Award, the AWARD Hall of Fame, the New York Festivals Lifetime Achievement Award and the Lotus Legend Award at ADFEST.
