Airtel's Arun Sharma joins IPG Mediabrands

In a significant development, Arun Sharma, Vice President Marketing - Head Media at Bharti Airtel has joined IPG Mediabrands. Sources close to exchange4media have confirmed the development, however, Sharma was not available for comments at the time of filing the report.
Sharma led the media vertical for Bharti Airtel. Sharma has over 17 years of experience of which 10 years were with Airtel. His primary responsibility included media strategy, planning, buying, deployment, ROI measurement, research and management of the marketing budget.
Before joining Bharti Airtel, he has worked with leading media agencies and handled a number of brands such as Coke, Nestle, Gillette, J&J and GSK. He has earlier also worked with Universal McCann, which is part of IPG Mediabrands.
It may be recalled that IPG Mediabrands recently won some big ticket clients such as Reckitt Benckiser, Heinz India and Samsung, which is touted to be one of the biggest media account wins with an estimated account size of around Rs 450 crore.
