Ad honchos look at the positive side: Goafest 2013
McCann WorldGroup’s Govind Pandey, Dentsu’s Arijit Ray, Mindshare’s Anupriya Archarya & Percept’s Ajay Chandwani on what is different about Goafest this year
Goafest 2013 is marked by high spirits, and festivities are in the air despite the round of controversies that marked the week before the fest. What is it about the fest that is different this year – a ray of fresh hope or the grey side of our industry that came forth?
Adlanders seem determined to look at the positive side and celebrate the spirit of creativity.
“In the backdrop of controversies that have happened, it is a time for introspection and looking at the business of advertising as a source of good and as serious business,” remarks Govind Pandey, President, McCann WorldGroup.
Arijit Ray, CEO, Dentsu Communications echoes this sentiment when he says, “Goafest is about celebration of the creative spark, so let’s feast on the good work over the next few days without categorising creativity into compartments.”
For some media veterans, the Goafest experience remains pleasantly unchanged.
“I quite enjoy the Goafest experience, every year they bring in a new line-up of speakers. I like listening to their points of view, of the marketers and agencies, so that is great, I quite enjoy the entire ambience as well. I would expect a similar kind of experience every Goafest, of course, we would also like to continue winning awards,” shares Anupriya Archarya, Leader, Client Leadership, South Asia at Mindshare Fulcrum.
Media veteran Ajay Chandwani, Director, Percept is determined to see the silver lining behind the cloud. According to him, “What is significant is how important it is to win awards for creative people, every year it becomes more important and so does the pressure of winning. This year, it has really come out and it is not just a few incidents where it is very obvious that there is tremendous amount of passion among creative people to win for the right reasons. I am only looking at positive side, I am so glad that creative people want to win, and that for me is the best thing about Goafest.”
Whilst Goafest continues to be a celebration of excellence in the communication business, here’s to seeing a plethora of great work and India shining. Cheers.
