Some losses take time to sink in.
Bhaskar Majumdar passed away early this morning after a long battle with cancer.
I had known Bhaskar professionally since 2008. But it was from around 2019 that I really came to know him well — beyond work, designations and the usual professional interactions.
That was also the period when our conversations became more frequent. We spoke about communications, media, the profession, people, and often about things that had nothing to do with work.
CommsAdda came out of that spirit.
Bhaskar was my friend and fellow co-originator of CommsAdda. We wanted to create a space where communications professionals could meet without agendas, exchange views, disagree openly, learn from each other and simply enjoy being part of the same fraternity.
He was deeply involved in those early conversations and in shaping what CommsAdda became.
Bhaskar had strong views. He spoke his mind. You always knew where he stood. But what I will remember most is the person behind those views — someone who cared about the profession and about the people around him.
It is difficult to accept that the conversations will now stop.
You tend to believe some people will always remain somewhere in your orbit. A phone call away. Available for a discussion, an argument, a laugh.
And then one day, they are not.
CommsAdda has lost one of its co-originators.
I have lost a friend.
Rest in peace, Bhaskar.
You will remain part of the CommsAdda story, and part of many of our memories.
