Radio jockey, actor and television host Salil Acharya has moved on from Radio City and is set to join BIG FM, according to industry sources.

Acharya has been associated with Radio City since 2009. He was reportedly roped in by the channel to co-host its Mumbai breakfast show “Kasa Kai Mumbai” alongside RJ Archanaa.

Acharya was associated with Radio City 91.1 for several years and built a strong listener base through his on-air presence and community-led initiatives. During his stint with the network, he was involved in multiple social awareness campaigns and hyperlocal engagement activities.

In 2021, he supported the “Mission Green Mumbai” campaign, an initiative that reportedly collected over 41,000 mango seeds for distribution among rural farmers in Maharashtra. The same year, he also co-hosted the “Chillar Party” Children’s Day event alongside fellow radio personalities including RJ Palak.

Known for speaking about radio’s role in enabling social change and strengthening local cultural connections, Acharya has remained an active voice in the medium beyond entertainment programming.

Apart from radio, Acharya has worked across television, films and digital entertainment. He made his Bollywood debut with Awarapan, directed by Mohit Suri. He has also been associated with the BBC Asian Network as a film critic and has worked as a VJ with B4U.

Acharya is also known in lifestyle and entertainment circles for his interest in fitness, with several media profiles documenting his transition from VJ to fitness enthusiast and health advocate.
