Avinash Kaul has announced his departure from Network18 after nearly 12 years with the organisation. He served as the Chief Executive Officer – Broadcast & Publishing of Network18 and Managing Director of A+E Networks | TV18.
In a LinkedIn post, Kaul expressed gratitude to colleagues across all levels of the company, particularly acknowledging the often-overlooked contributions of support staff.
During his tenure, Kaul oversaw substantial expansion within Network18. When he joined, he managed three channels; by the time of his departure, he was responsible for 20 channels, alongside a publishing division and a growing connected television presence.
Kaul has more than 28 years of experience in the media industry. Prior to joining Network18, he held senior leadership roles at Bennett, Coleman and Co. Ltd. (Times Group), Sahara One Entertainment & Media Limited, NDTV Media, and Star India Pvt Ltd.
At Network18, which he joined in 2014, Kaul played a central role in strengthening broadcast operations while aligning them more closely with publishing and digital ecosystems. Kaul oversaw the country’s largest news network. The portfolio comprised 20 news channels across 16 languages, reaching more than 700 million viewers annually.
Kaul’s influence extended beyond the organisations he led. He served as a board member of the Media Research Users Council, overseeing the Indian Readership Survey. He was also associated with the Broadcast Audience Research Council as a member of its Extended Technical Committee. His role on the Managing Committee of The Advertising Club reflected a broader engagement with industry-wide conversations on media, marketing and measurement.
While he did not disclose specific details about his next venture, Kaul indicated that he is preparing for a new professional phase, describing it as ‘the next mountain’ in his career journey.
