Richard Wormald has been elevated to President, Asia Pacific at Mastercard, marking a key leadership move for the global payments major in the region. He shared the news on LinkedIn, announcing that Singapore will be his new home base as he takes on the expanded role at the start of 2026.

In this role, Wormald will lead

“Happy New Year from my new home base in Singapore. I’m delighted to begin 2026 in my new role as Asia Pacific President at Mastercard,” Wormald wrote in a LinkedIn post.

Reflecting on the road ahead, he highlighted a strong focus on expanding financial access, strengthening security, and responsibly harnessing technology and AI to drive the continued transformation of the payments landscape across Asia Pacific.

"Having spent many years visiting, it’s energising to now be based here and experience Singapore from a new vantage point. As a true gateway to Asia and a centre of gravity for the region across finance, technology, innovation, and talent, it reflects the optimism, diversity, and momentum I see across Asia Pacific, he added.

In his new role, Richard Wormald will oversee Mastercard’s strategy and operations across one of its most dynamic and fast-growing markets. His appointment comes at a time when digital payments, financial inclusion, and AI-led innovation are playing an increasingly critical role in shaping the future of commerce across the region.
