Razorpay has promoted Apuarv Sethi as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). In his expanded role, he will lead the company’s marketing efforts and SME business growth plans across India and Southeast Asia.
As CMO, Apuarv will focus on using AI-driven marketing and new technologies to strengthen Razorpay’s growth. He will also manage the company’s go-to-market strategy, ecosystem partnerships, revenue growth initiatives, and future-ready business plans across different markets and products.
Apuarv joined Razorpay in April 2021 as Vice President of Marketing. Since then, he has played an important role in building the company’s brand and driving growth in the SME segment. Before becoming CMO, he served as Senior Vice President - Marketing, where he handled brand strategy, product marketing, performance marketing, communications, and customer engagement while supporting growth across key business areas.
With close to 20 years of experience, Apuarv has worked across sectors such as fintech, SaaS, e-commerce, and education. His expertise includes brand building, marketing strategy, business growth, customer loyalty, and monetisation. Before joining Razorpay, he worked with companies like Flipkart, Mindtree, and Manipal Global Education Services.
Speaking on the appointment, Rahul Kothari, COO of Razorpay, said that Apuarv has been a key part of the company’s brand growth journey. He added that Apuarv’s understanding of customers and his creative approach have helped Razorpay connect strongly with small businesses and entrepreneurs. Kothari also said that as Razorpay looks to expand globally, strong brand leadership will play a major role, and Apuarv is well-positioned to lead the company’s marketing vision.
Commenting on his new role, Apuarv Sethi said that the future of marketing will come from combining AI with human creativity and understanding. He added that Razorpay has always focused on solving real business problems through innovation. According to him, AI offers brands a chance to build stronger customer trust and create value at scale while keeping empathy and creativity at the centre. He also said his focus will be on building smarter and more meaningful marketing strategies that support the growth of India’s small businesses and entrepreneurs.
