Noel Tata on Tuesday said he will step down as Chairman of Voltas. According to reports, he made the announcement at the company’s 72nd annual general meeting, telling shareholders it would be his final AGM in the role.
His exit comes less than a week after a similar announcement at Trent, where he also confirmed his decision to step down.
Tata, who turns 70 in November, is retiring in line with the Tata Group’s governance rules, which require non-executive directors to step down upon reaching that age. Under the same policy, executive directors retire at 65.
Beyond Voltas and Trent, he is also expected to step down from several other Tata Group boards later this year, including Titan Company, Tata Steel, Tata Investment Corporation and Tata International.
Noel Tata joined the Voltas board in January 2003 and was appointed Non-Executive Chairman in September 2017.
