Navika Kumar has been elevated to a Group role as Times Group Editor-in-Chief. Zakka Jacob has been named Managing Editor – Times Now. The announcement has been made by the company in an internal communication.

“Over the past two decades, Navika has had a key contribution in the growth and stellar leadership of Times Now, and also in the launch and the rapid ascent in a short period, of Times Now Navbharat. She has not only steered both newsrooms through complex and high-stakes environments, but has also built a culture of sharp, impactful journalism that resonates across the country and beyond,” read the note.
In her new role, Navika will continue to anchor her prime time show weekdays on Times Now (at 9 pm), introduce a much-anticipated podcast, as well as mentor and advise Times Group's content creation and editorial teams. With her three-and-a-half-decade experience in the news industry and multiple recognitions and awards, she will continue to be a key leader of Brand Times Now.
She will continue to be based out of the NOIDA office and will report to Mr Vineet Jain, Managing Director and Mr N. Subramanian, Group CEO, The Times Group.
“As Navika transitions into this larger role, we are pleased to welcome Zakka Jacob as Managing Editor – Times Now, taking over the day-to-day editorial leadership of the channel,” the note read.
Zakka, formerly Managing Editor of CNN-News18, is a seasoned broadcast professional who has led a large and dynamic newsroom and shaped editorial strategy across platforms in the rapidly changing journalism environment of today. In a career spanning international and domestic assignments, he is a two-time recipient of the Asian Television Award for Best Anchor – the only Indian anchor to achieve this distinction twice.
All functions across Times Now TV – Input, Output, and Production will report into Zakka. He will be based out of the NOIDA office and will report to Ashish Sehgal, CEO – Times TV Network & CGO – Media & Entertainment.
