Sachin Sahay, currently executive vice-president in charge of sales operations at ITC Ltd, is understood to be the leading contender for the chief executive role at Birla Opus, the Aditya Birla Group–backed paints venture, according to media reports. He is expected to replace Rakshit Hargave, who relinquished the top position in November 2025.
A veteran of ITC, Sahay has spent more than two decades with the conglomerate, beginning his career as a brand manager in 2002. For the last nine years, he has been heading sales operations, steering nationwide sales across ITC’s cigarettes and FMCG portfolios. His remit has included sales planning and execution, distributor and field-force oversight, channel development, and the use of data analytics to drive performance.
An alumnus of Mumbai’s SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Sahay is likely to assume the role at a challenging phase for the paints sector, as established players seek to protect market share amid uneven demand conditions.
