Axis Bank CFO Puneet Sharma Resigns, Set to Leave in August

  • Axis Bank's Chief Financial Officer, Puneet Sharma, has resigned to pursue new professional opportunities, effective 31 August 2023.
  • Sharma submitted his resignation on 28 June and has over 20 years of experience in finance, including a significant tenure at Tata Capital.
  • The bank's board has reappointed CH S S Mallikarjunarao as an independent director for a second four-year term, effective from 1 February 2027.
  • Munish Sharda has also been reappointed as Whole-Time Director, designated as Executive Director, for a three-year term starting 27 February 2027.

Axis Bank has announced the resignation of its Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Key Managerial Personnel, Puneet Sharma, who has decided to step down to pursue the next phase of his professional journey. In a regulatory filing, the bank said Sharma tendered his resignation on 28 June.

He will continue in his role until the close of business on 31 August.

Sharma is a finance veteran with more than two decades of experience. Before joining Axis Bank, he spent 12 years at Tata Capital, where he served as Group Head and Chief Financial Officer of Tata Capital Limited and Tata Capital Financial Services Limited from 2014. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles at Citibank N.A.

Separately, Axis Bank’s board approved the reappointment of independent director CH S S Mallikarjunarao for a second four-year term from 1 February 2027 to 31 January 2031. It also approved the reappointment of Munish Sharda as Whole-Time Director, designated as Executive Director, for a further three-year term from 27 February 2027 to 26 February 2030.
