All Tamil channels witness a significant fall in ratings; GECs in Bihar & Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, among others also slip in ratings

Week 4 ratings: Most regional GECs witness dip in ratings

In week 4 (January 18-24, 2015), most regional channels saw a decline in their ratings. Only a few recorded a rise in viewership.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers in CS4+ regional markets, all Bihar and Jharkhand channels, except Mahuaa, saw their ratings drop. Mahuaa witnessed its ratings shoot up to 1131 GVTs from 817 in week 3, while Mahuaa Plus’ ratings dipped to 1402 GVTs from 1526 the last week. Big Magic Ganga’s ratings slipped to 978 GVTs from 1068 in week 3. Anjan also recorded a fall in its ratings. Its ratings dropped to 555 GVTs from 704 a week earlier. Among all Bihar and Jharkhand channels, Oscar Movies Bhojpuri witnessed the maximum drop in viewership. Its ratings slipped to 352 GVTs from 936 in week 3.

In West Bengal, Star Jalsha’s ratings rose to 110,684 GVTs in week 4 from 105,333 the last week. Zee Bangla also saw a partial increase in its ratings. The channel’s ratings went up to 83,352 GVTs this week from 81,728. ETV Bangla, on the other hand, saw a partial drop in viewership. The channel’s ratings slipped to 23,578 GVTs this week from 23,743 a week ago. Aakaash also saw its ratings fall to 14,496 GVTs from 15,060. Rupashi Bangla’s ratings dipped to 2284 GVTs from 2475.

In Tamil Nadu, all regional channels recorded a significant drop in their ratings in week 4. Sun TV recorded 224,920 GVTs this week compared with 267,930 the previous week. Vijay’s ratings slipped to 70,651 GVTs from 101,455. Polimer’s ratings dropped marginally to 22,364 GVTs from 23,655. Zee Tamil recorded 21,088 GVTs in week 4 compared with 25,035 in week 3. Raj TV’s ratings slipped to 18,149 GVTs from 21,739. Kalaignar TV’s ratings plummeted to 17,076 GVTs from 33,979. Jaya TV also saw its ratings fall to 13,094 GVTs from 21,216. Mega TV’s ratings declined partially to 5388 GVTs from 5422 in week 3.

In Maharashtra, Zee Marathi’s ratings increased to 142,602 GVTs this week from 137,399 the previous week. ETV Marathi also saw its ratings shoot up to 62,298 GVTs from 55,852. Star Pravah, on the other hand, witnessed a decline in its viewership. The channel recorded 54,873 GVTs in week 4 compared with 55,225 in the last week. Mi Marathi, too, saw in its ratings drop to 11,376 GVTs from 12,442 in week 3.

In Karnataka, Udaya channel recorded its viewership rise to 84,090 GVTs in week 4 from 77,421 GVTs in week 3. ETV Kannada’s ratings increased to 56,894 GVTs from 50,505 a week earlier. Suvarna’s ratings declined to 45,918 GVTs from 50,208 the previous week. Zee Kannada’s ratings increased to 37,068 GVTs from 33,965 the last week. Kasthuri TV also saw its ratings fall to 7392 GVTs this week from 8681 in week 3.

In Andhra Pradesh, MAA TV’s ratings dropped marginally to 101,388 GVTs from 112,406 in week 3. ETV’s ratings increased to 91,440 GVTs compared with 90,722 in week 3. Zee Telugu witnessed a significant drop in its ratings. This week, the channel recorded 90,376 GVTs compared with 107,621 a week ago. Gemini TV’s ratings also fell to 89,171 GVTs from 121,600 in week 3. Vissa TV also saw its viewership fall to 134 GVTs from 177 the last week.

In Kerala, Asianet’s ratings increased to 58,452 GVTs in week 4 from 55,404 in week 3, while that of Surya TV’s dropped marginally to 14,172 GVTs from 15,689 the last week. Asianet Plus also saw its ratings drop to 4326 GVTs from 5034 a week ago. Kairali TV’s ratings dipped to 3427 GVTs from 5388, while Amrita TV also witnessed a significant fall in its ratings. Its ratings dropped to 1748 GVTs from 3402 in week 3.
