TV channels come up with special lineups to bring in the new year with a bang

Apart from English channels, regional ones too put forth a mix of movie premiers and variety of shows

With the world set to welcome 2019, TV channels in the country have lined up special shows for the audience on New Year’s eve. 

The English entertainment channels have been airing content targeting the year-ender audience. While Colors Infinity has telecast handpicked episodes of The Big Bang Theory, VH1 is broadcasting ‘Top 50 videos of 2018’. Comedy Central has decided to stream the best episodes of popular TV series F.R.I.E.N.D.S. The channel will also be airing comedy show Impractical Jokers from January 1. 

Colors TV will be airing Naagin 3’s 'Jashn -E-Imtihan' on Monday at 9pm.

Among the regional channels, Colors Marathi will telecast New Year Special episodes of reality show Sur Nava Dhyas Nava Chote Surveer on Monday. The two-and-half hour episode will not only have special performances by the contestants but also dollops of comedy to keep the viewers in high spirits to walk into the New Year. 

There will also be a special segment where the contestants and their parents will be felicitated with awards like the ‘Best Parent Award’, the ‘Late Latif Award’, the ‘Drama Queen Award’ and the Shaktiman Award. The programmes will be aired between 9:30pm and 12am. 

Tamil regional player Star Vijay also has lined up special programmes for New Year. A one-hour special talk show ‘Kanne Kalaimaane’ will be telecast on January 1st at 8 am. 

The channel will also be broadcasting a debate show ‘Sirappu Pattimandram’ on Tuesday itself, besides premiering movies on the first day of the year, some of them being political comedy 'Annanukku Jai', directed by Rajkumar, and romantic comedy, 'Manam'.
