Rajat Sharma elected as the President of News Broadcasters Association

The position of President had been lying vacant since end of July 2017 after Ashish Bagga resigned as the Group CEO of India Today Group

The News Broadcasters Association that represents the private television news and current affairs broadcasters in India, on Tuesday elected Rajat Sharma, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief (India TV) – Independent News Service Pvt. Ltd as the President during a board meeting held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.




Sharma was also earlier NBA President from 2014 to 2016.




M.V. Shreyams Kumar, Whole-time Director, Mathrubhumi Printing & Publishing Co. Ltd, has been elected as the Vice-President and Anurradha Prasad, Chairperson-cum-Managing Director, News24 Broadcast India Ltd has replaced KVL Narayan Rao, Group CEO & Executive Vice-Chairperson, NDTV Group as the honorary treasurer of NBA.




The position of President had been lying vacant since end of July 2017 after Ashish Bagga resigned as the Group CEO of India Today Group.




In November 2016, Bagga was elected as the president of NBA after Ashok Venkatramani, Former CEO, ABP News Network resigned from the position.




Others elected to the nine-member NBA Board are MK Anand, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer – Times Network - Bennett, Coleman & Co; KVL Narayan Rao, Group CEO and Executive Vice Chairperson NDTV Group – New Delhi Television; Rahul Joshi, CEO News & Group Editor-in-Charge, TV18 Broadcast ; Rajiv Singh, Executive Director & COO - Zee Media Corporation; Avinash Pandey, Chief Operating Officer - ABP News Network Pvt; and I Venkat, Director, Eenadu Television.




The NBA currently has 65 news and current affairs channels as its members.
