NDTV Q1: Broadcast arm declares first profit in four years, website traffic up by 50%
NDTV Convergence recorded revenue of Rs 37 crores, with Profit After Tax of Rs 4 crores
New Delhi Television Limited (broadcast) has reported first profitable Q1 since 2014.
New Delhi Television Limited standalone has PAT of Rs 0.9 crores in Q119, versus a loss of Rs 16 crores last year. The earnings before depreciation, interest and taxes are Rs 7.5 crores, versus a loss of Rs 8.8 crores last year. New Delhi Television Limited shows a PAT turnaround of Rs 17 crores YoY (over the same period last year). Its operating costs have reduced by 24 per cent YoY from Rs 84 crores to Rs 64 crores, according to a statement issued by the company.
NDTV Convergence recorded revenue of Rs 37 crores, with Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 4 crores. Also, for the first time, the number of unique visitors has hit 200 million. The traffic has increased by nearly 50 per cent over last year.
For NDTV Group (including e-commerce), the consolidated results for the quarter show a significantly lower loss of Rs 2.7 crores, against a loss of Rs 22 crores last year.
The company has claimed that NDTV Food is now the #1 food content destination in India with over 12 million unique visitors. Also, NDTV Convergence launched vernacular content with Bengali and Tamil sites.
