Kerala-based Multi System Operator (MSO), Kerala Communicators Cable Ltd (KCCL) launched GEC Kerala Vision Satellite Channel on April 28. The channel will go live on May 12.
The team is also set to enter the Dubai market with Kerala Vision World. Keralavision.tv and Newskerala.com portals were also launched on the same day.
The general entertainment channel comes under KCCL’s sister concern KCBL (Kerala Channel Broadcasting Ltd) and will be headed under the leadership of Praveen Mohan, Chairman. Raj Mohan is the Managing Director.
Presently the channel will be focusing on family-oriented entertainment programmes but they are planning to expand into a news and an education channel as well.
“We will have market friendly programmes targeting all the age group and gender. Both entertainment and information will go hand in hand in most of our programmes. Our expansion plans are based on the reception by the audience,” said Prakash Menon, VP, Content & Revenue.
KCCL is an initiative of independent Cable TV Operators in Kerala under the guidance of Cable Operators Association (COA), an umbrella union of local cable operators all over Kerala. It is a conglomeration of more than 4000 independent cable networks functioning all over Kerala. KCCL brought all independent cable networks of Kerala under a common brand name Kerala Vision. It is the first IP TV (Internet Protocol TV) technology-enabled Cable channel in India.
Major share holders of the channel are COA members itself.
