I watch Arnab and I like him quite a bit: Mukesh Ambani

Arnab Goswami’s ‘The Newshour’ might be counted amongst the popular news shows in the country , but to get India’s richest man –Mukesh Ambani, confirming it on a rival channel is way beyond surprising.
This did happen recently when Mukesh Ambani , Chairman and MD Reliance Industries Limited, was asked about his favourite 9 pm show during his interview called "Off The Cuff" by journalist Shekhar Gupta for his digital venture, "The Print". The interview was being aired live on NDTV when Ambani replied, “I watch Arnab and I like him quite a bit.”
What is interesting is that Ambani who has a controlling stake in CNN News 18 and an indirect stake in NDTV chose to name a rival TV channel’s anchor. Incidentally, the question was posed by Mahrukh Inayet, who has served stint as news anchor with Times Now.
Speaking to exchange4media Inayet said, "Mr Ambani had been quite candid on a few personal fronts during the course of the interview. Given the focus on his business interests in news channels I thought it would be interesting to hear what he watches. But I had no idea what his answer would be."
You can watch it here:
In his analysis of the interview on Newslaundry, journalist Kaushik Chatterji stated, “The questions were succinct and devoid of hostility. Gupta spoke for less than 50 seconds, Ambani spoke for nearly 14 minutes.”
While The Quint wrote, “The freewheeling conversation between Gupta and Ambani has received some flak for not asking tough questions of the industrialist. The interaction was limited to talking about the Ambani family, Reliance Industries, his father Dhirubhai, and his new venture, Jio.”
As expected the social media was abuzz with reactions of all kinds about Ambani’s open praise for Arnab Goswami...
