Javadekar announced at a meeting of the Indian Broadcasting Federation that the process will meet its new deadline of December 2015

I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar assures digitisation is on track

The deadline of cable TV digitisation was extended to December 31, 2015, leading to much debate over whether this will affect the industry that has been waiting for this for far too long. (Digitisation deadline pushed back to December 2015 ). 

In a bid to assuage the fear, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar has promised digitisation on time.

Javadekar was addressing stakeholders at the 15th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Broadcasting Federation in New Delhi, on Wednesday.

The minister tweeted, “Digitisation is on track and will happen as per new schedule.”

The annual general meeting was held to choose the director for IBF. The meeting saw the presence of leading broadcasters including Rahul Johri, Executive Vice President and General Manager, South Asia, and Head of Revenue, Pan-Regional Ad Sales and Southeast Asia, Punit Goenka, CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited, Man Jit Singh,  President, Worldwide, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India TV  and others.

The next phase of digitisation is expected to be completed by the end of December 2015 and the last phase by December 2016.
