COVID- 19 Week 2: Hindi GEC markets witness a fall of 6.67% in total impressions

The BARC India week 12 data also revealed that Hindi GEC Rural total impressions registered a 0% increase this week

In the week 2 of COVID-19, the Hindi GEC, including both markets (urban+rural + all platforms), has witnessed a fall of 6.67% in the total impressions and registered 5074271 (000s) impressions as compared to 5437204(000s) impressions in the previous week as per the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India week 12.  

On the other hand, the Hindi GEC Urban market declined by 9.7% with a total number of impressions to 2609264 (000s) as compared to 2889612 (000s) impressions. Whereas Hindi GEC rural market total impressions have grown very little to 2492994 (000s) impressions from 2492923 (000s) impressions in week 11.  

Now, a look at the top five channels of the respective markets:

Hindi (U+R) (All Platforms)

Dangal witnessed a fall in impressions but continued to lead the Hindi GEC (U+R) segment with 1148981(000s) as compared to 1230937 (000s) impressions in week 11. 

However, Sony Sab saw a spike, maintained it's second spot and reported 800124 (000) impressions as compared to 731221 (000s) impressions in the previous week. Big Magic replaced Star Plus on the third spot and registered 626791 (000s) impressions followed by Colors on the fourth position with 525893 (000s) impressions and  Sony Entertainment Television on the fifth spot with 525893 (000s) impressions. 

Hindi GEC Urban

Sony SAB continues to maintain its top slot with an increase in numbers with 541106 (000s) impressions as compared to 515078 (000s) impressions in week 11. Colors replaced Star Plus this week on the second spot with 373716 (000s) impressions followed by Sony Entertainment Television on the third spot with 364166 (000s) impressions. Star Plus fell to fourth place from second and registered 312738 (000s) impressions. Dangal replaced Zee TV at the fifth spot with 269140 impressions. 

Hindi GEC Rural

In the rural market, Dangal TV led the top ten channel list with 879841 (000s) impressions as compared to 945781 (000s) impressions in week 11 followed by Big Magic on the second position with 496541 (000s) impressions as compared to 438075 (000s) impressions. Sony Sab bagged the third spot with 259018 (000s) impressions. Zee TV and Star Plus bagged fourth and fifth with 158853 (000s) impressions and 158806 (000s) impressions respectively.
