At 93.5 Red FM, humour is the new name of the game. The radio channel has launched another initiative in programming across all its radio stations with a daily show featuring Surendra Sharma, a well-known humorist and poet. The show, ‘Sharmaji Se Poocho’, earlier a filler show, is a one-hour programme, aired on the 5-6 pm primetime slot on weekdays.
Surendra Sharma’s humour became popular with his ‘Chaar Laina’ that was based on his wife. In ‘Sharmaji Se Poocho’, he hosts an interactive programme where he gives snappy, humorous replies to crazy questions coming up in email, fax, SMS, and phone calls from Red FM listeners. Sharma selects the funniest questions and answers them.
Says Vehrnon Ibrahim, Executive Producer, 93.5 Red FM, “There is a fine line between slapstick and fuddy-duddy humour, and Sharmaji walks that line with the type of swagger that makes you laugh. The reaction from listeners to the promos meant this show was sure to be a success even before it was on air.”
Sharma said, “I like to be with Red FM as they serve the same people whom I have entertained for years. Everyone I know of listens to Red FM. So, when Red FM asked me to do ‘Sharmaji Se Poocho’, I said, “Toh aap Sharmaji se hi kyon poochana chaahatey ho?”
Alongside the acclaimed satirist, the India Today Group-promoted FM channel also has well-known RJs like Ameen Sayani, Shamsheer Rai Luthra and Usha Uthup amongst others.
