exchange4media’s radio awards Golden Mikes 2018 was held at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai on April 19. The winners are selected from a Jury which comprises seasoned marketers and agency heads. It was chaired by Ashish Bhasin, Chairman & CEO, South Asia, Dentsu Aegis Network.
Commenting on the awards, Bhasin said, "As the jury, we were very impressed with a few things. I think the process was very well-handled. We got a very well-documented shortlist. I'm a big believer in radio as a medium. A little more research and creativity in the medium can take it to a very different level."

Red FM emerged as the Radio Station of the Year with 6 gold, 4 silver, and 6 bronze metals. It won gold in creativity, effectiveness and innovation categories for ‘Mumbai Khadde Mein’. The other three were in broadcaster category for ‘Gumshuda Zebra Crossing’, ‘Sonu POTHOLE Mix’ and ‘Pad Habit.’ Madison Media bagged Radio Agency of the Year with 1 gold and 3 bronze metals.

Childline India Foundation won the Radio Advertiser of the Year.

RJ Malishka Mendonsa’s winning streak continued as she again won RJ of the Year award.
Winners also include Radio City, Radio Mirchi and Ogilvy & Mather. Radio City bagged 2 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze metals while Mirchi claimed 1 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze metals. Ogilvy got 1 gold and 1 bronze.

The campaigns which won gold include ‘GST Campaign - GST Ko Thoda Simple Banao, Mirchi 98.3 Lagao’ (Radio Mirchi) and Black And White Holi (Radio City).
Commenting on the work, Bhasin said, "You don't get to see radio work of such standard. Print gets showcased, film gets showcased but radio doesn't get showcased. An award function like this gives us an opportunity to see so much creativity. There is a lot of good work happening in radio."

But he also had a word of advice for radio creatives. "The presentation of work for radio can definitely improve. A good idea could get lost, if you haven't showcased it well," he added.
