Rahul Joshi's appointment to bolster Network18's news offering?
Since the takeover of Network18 by Reliance Industries last year, the organisation has seen some interesting appointments such as AP Parigi as Group CEO in January this year, also from the Times Group
Rahul Joshi’s move as Editorial Director of The Economic Times to Network 18 as Chief Executive Officer, News, and Group Editor-in-Chief has created waves in industry circles.
Given his title of Chief Executive Officer, News, and Group Editor-in-Chief , his mandate will extend to all aspects of business and editorial of Network18 properties.
The Network18 group umbrella also includes Firstpost, Forbes, Moneycontrol, and CNBC TV18, CNBC Awaaz CNN-IBN and IBN7.
Joshi used to handle Brand Equity earlier and has also been resident editor of ET Delhi edition. He later replaced Rajrishi Singhal as Executive Editor and then became Editorial Director. The news of his exit was broken to the Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL) board on Wednesday and he is expected to join Network 18 early next month.
Since the takeover of Network 18 by Reliance Industries last year, the organisation has seen some interesting appointments such as AP Parigi as its Group CEO earlier in January this year, also from the Times Group. Parigi has served as the Managing Director & CEO of ENIL/Radio Mirchi. Former Zee Media CEO Alok Agrawal was appointed Group COO of Network18 after Ajay Chacko stepped down. Earlier this week, Firstpost has appointed BV Rao (Editor) and Ajay Singh (Executive Editor) to assist R Jagannathan, Editor-in-Chief of Firstpost and Forbes India.
Group CEO A P Parigi sent a welcome mail to the internal team introducing Joshi wherein Parigi welcomed Joshi on behalf of the Board of Directors of Network18, saying that he is looking forward to his immense expertise to help Network18 and be even more successful in news. In the email, Parigi welcomed Joshi saying he is delighted on the appointment and that he is an outstanding leader with stirring success behind him in all formats of the media.
Only time will tell how Joshi’s appointment a bid to strengthen the editorial leadership by the group pans out, an interesting one to watch out for to say the least after all the twists and turns witnessed by the group in the past year. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
