Live India’s new magazine hits newsstands today

Hindi news channel Live India, owned by Broadcast Initiatives, is all set to launch a magazine on current affairs. Also titled ‘Live India’, the Hindi magazine hits newsstands on February 13, 2013. The 72-page magazine has cover price of Rs 25 and will have an initial print run of 50,000 copies.

Currently, the magazine is being launched as a monthly on a pan-India basis, but the organisation has plans to turn it into fortnightly and weekly going forward. Prior to the launch, the magazine had a dry run for two months.

Besides Live India channel, Broadcast Initiatives also has Marathi entertainment channel Me Marathi and Marathi weekly newspaper ‘Prajavichar’ in its bouquet.

Commenting on the launch of ‘Live India’ magazine, Praveen Tiwari, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, said, “We are already present in the electronic media through our news channel in Hindi and Marathi, besides having a Marathi newspaper. Hindi is a language that is mostly understood by citizens of the country. We wanted to have presence in the print domain and a magazine was the best way to enter this domain.”

He further said, “The USP of ‘Live India’ is issue based journalism. We plan to pick one issue and ask the relevant people to comment on that and then we will shape it further.”

The first issue features interactions with Kailash Kher, Prahlad Kakkar and Sudhir Mishra, among others, on issues related to film, advertising and singers.

In order to promote the magazine, the group has embarked on a 360-degree campaign. Promotions are currently underway on the group’s news channels.

The group is also organising the Live India Young Achievers Award on February 13 to recognise young talent from across the country in different disciplines. Some of the award winners include Unmukt Chand, PV Sindhu and Govind Jaiswal.
