‘Kane and Abel’ fame author Jeffrey Archer dies at 86

Jeffrey Archer, the renowned novelist and former Conservative politician, has died at his London home aged 86. Archer’s publisher, HarperCollins, confirmed that he passed away ‘suddenly and peacefully’ on 5 October.
In a career spanning five decades, Archer sold more than 300 million copies worldwide.
He made his mark with his 1976 debut Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, then achieved global fame with Kane and Abel (1979). It remains as one of the best-selling books of all time.
Alongside his novels and short story collections, Archer also penned three stage plays: Beyond Reasonable Doubt (1987), Exclusive (1989) and The Accused (2000).
His final novel, Adam and Eve, is published today, 6 October.
