Dainik Bhaskar ad revenue grows 7% for FY19

DB Corp’s total revenue has risen by 6.2% to Rs 2,479.4 crore in FY19, from Rs 2,334.9 crore in FY18

DB Corp Ltd., the parent company of Hindi and regional dailies such as Dainik Bhaskar, Divya Bhaskar, and Divya Marathi, has posted a 15.4% decrease in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 273.8 crore, for the year ended March 2018, according to reports. The company’s PAT stood at Rs 324 crore in FY18. 

DB Corp’s total revenue has risen by 6.2% to Rs 2,479.4 crore in FY19, from Rs 2,334.9 crore in FY18. Advertising revenue of the group grew 7.4% to Rs 1,762.5 crore, while circulation revenue increased 5.1% to Rs 523.7 crore in FY19. 

Speaking on the development, Sudhir Agarwal, Managing Director, DB Corp Ltd, was quoted saying, “Our sustained focus over the past five to six quarters on our circulation expansion in our legacy markets as well as in the newer markets is paying off as reflected in the latest published readership and circulation number by Media Research Users Council (MRUC) and Audience Broadcast Council (ABC), respectively. The benefit of softening newsprint prices along with the cost-cutting initiatives, already implemented is expected to improve our bottom line."

While revenue from its digital business stood at Rs 48.7 crore, the company’s PAT for the radio business grew 70% to Rs 26 crore, as revenue increased by 14.4% to Rs 154.9 crore in FY19. 

In Q4 2018, DB Corp reported a 4.2% increase in total revenue to Rs 591.1 crore, as PAT dipped 4.7% by 54.5 crores when compared to the corresponding period last year.
