Happy Birthday Shilpa Shetty: From films to fitness

As the actress turns 43 today, we look at her association with various brands

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been one of the leading health and fitness influencers in the country. Shetty, who is known for her active lifestyle, has carved a niche for herself in the wellness space. The actress celebrates her 43rd birthday today.

From Bollywood and IPL to yoga, wellness centres, food ventures and reality shows, Shetty has been associated with several ventures. She is also the new brand ambassador for Narendra Modi government’s cleanliness initiative Swachh Bharat Mission.

The yoga enthusiast has released DVDs on the benefits of the health practice and has also written a book on healthy eating--The Great Indian diet.

Shetty has been very vocal about the benefits of healthy eating habits and has taken a stand against endorsing unhealthy brands. According to her, promoting unhealthy brands sends negative message to the audiences. In 2016, the actress reportedly refused an offer to endorse a cold drink brand because she considers aerated drinks unhealthy.

Shetty is now also foraying into the business of wellness. She is said to be coming up with a wellness brand. The new line of products will hit the market soon. The venture will have video, tutorials, recipes and tips for a healthier lifestyle. The content will be available only on digital platforms.

Yakult Danone

Yakult Danone India last year roped in Shilpa Shetty Kundra as its new brand ambassador to spread the health benefits of probiotics and Yakult among Indian consumers. We have seen her endorsing the brand on TV and digital media, telling viewers how important it is to keep the digestive system fit.


In 2013, the actress launched YaP fitness programme, a unique combination of physiotherapy, in association with wellness brand VLCC. The campaign had the message that it was essential to be fit, both mentally and physically.

In April this year, the fitness entrepreneur came on board as an equity investor for Delhi-based mother and childcare brand Mamaearth. According to the actress, the reason for partnering with the baby brand was to reduce parental stress.


ITC’s food division recently roped in the actress as the new brand ambassador for B-Natural juices and beverages. The brand sees her collaboration with Shetty as a step towards educating people and helping them choose a healthy lifestyle.
