Game-On Summit: How a blind test revealed the best compact gaming smartphone

Specs can be impressive on paper, but how does a phone really feel when you’re 1v1 in BGMI? That’s what the Game-On Summit set out to test. Conducted by 91mobiles — India’s largest gadget research website — Game-On Summit is an industry-first hands-on, unbiased comparison.

The event brought together over 150 gamers who aimed to uncover which of the latest flagships delivers the best real-world gaming experience. These devices were:

• iQOO 13
• OnePlus 13s
• Samsung Galaxy S25
• Apple iPhone 16

To ensure the test was fair and focused purely on performance and real-life experience, we devised a blind testing procedure.

To eliminate the brand bias, the back of every device was carefully wrapped to completely conceal its design and branding. The phones were simply labelled A, B, C, and D. This meant participants would judge the phones on their actual performance and feel, not by the logo on the back.

Each participant was seated at a table that had a full set of the four disguised phones. They were asked to play BGMI for 15 minutes each on each of the devices, ensuring that all the participants got a chance to try out gaming on all the four phones. 

The Game-on Summit included a two-step process to gather insights on the overall gaming experience. Each participant was given a notepad to jot down their immediate impressions, thoughts on performance, and handling during each gameplay session. At the end of the event, they used these notes to fill out a form, where they rated various parameters for their gaming experience.

The phones were ranked by over 150 participants based on five key categories: stable framerates, display clarity, touch response & control, heating, and overall comfort.

What were the findings?

The feedback from over 150 gamers, combined with 91mobiles’ internal testing, pointed to a definitive winner. The OnePlus 13s (Phone B) emerged as the undisputed champion of the day, earning the title of the Best Compact Gaming Smartphone. It secured the top spot by winning in 3 out of the 5 key gaming parameters that were tested.

The OnePlus 13s was rated No. 1 for:

• Ergonomic Comfort: A majority of gamers (78.6%) found it the most comfortable to hold and use during long gaming sessions.
• Thermal Efficiency: The device stayed the coolest under pressure, with nearly 80% of participants rating its heat management as excellent.
• Touch Accuracy: It delivered the best touch response, with 77.4% of gamers rating its controls and accuracy as top-tier.
  
  

Beyond that, the OnePlus 13s also performed well in other areas, with approximately 80% of gamers giving it an "excellent" rating for its display clarity and smooth gaming (FPS stability).

This real-world feedback was validated by 91mobiles lab data, which confirmed the OnePlus 13s had the lowest temperature bump and superior battery endurance compared to the other devices.

With over 150 gamers and unbiased testing, the Game-On Summit proved that user experience is what really defines a gaming phone — not the logo on the back. The practical, real-world experience is what truly separates a good gaming phone from a great one, a fact the OnePlus 13s proved decisively in this test.
