The unsung heroes of the Corona War
The role of emergency services rendered by medical practitioners and the enforcement authorities have come to the forefront, helping us bravely fight this war
Today than ever before, television and over-the-top platforms have become an integral part of our lives. With India under lockdown for 21 days to battle the war brought on us by the COVID 19, various rights of the citizens that have been debated and advocated for decades, today stand curtailed, of course, rightly so, for the welfare of the nation.
What the entire nation would not have fathomed ever, in any circumstance other than the present one, is the essence of the right to access to information, news and entertainment for everyone. Earlier this year, we witnessed the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, declare the access to the internet as a fundamental right as guaranteed by the Constitution of India. Today, it appears that the right to access to news and entertainment has triumphed as a right of the citizens over other rights, holding the society and community together and assisting the society to tide over the present situation.
The role of emergency services rendered by medical practitioners and the enforcement authorities have come to the forefront, helping us bravely fight this war. However, in these times, the role of the media, broadcasting and the distribution platforms also need to be acknowledged and appreciated. With everyone indoors, the once called “idiot box” seems to be not so idiot after all. Every member of the family is turning to the television, either for the news to keep themselves updated or for entertainment.
And for this, we have numerous people to thank who are tirelessly working to ensure us the continuous, uninterrupted and access to media and entertainment. One such distribution platform is SITI Networks Limited, the largest Multi System Operator in the country. SITI Networks Limited is a part of the Essel Group, providing its cable services to more than 580 Locations and adjoining areas and reaching out to approximately 8 million digital customers.
Anil Malhotra, the Chief Executive Officer, SITI Networks Ltd., in this regard says, “In this war against Corona, which is a war for Humanity, our SITI employees are fighting like unsung heroes on the frontline. Our field and support teams are helping people to stay at home entertained and informed. In spite of getting little support from Police and other authorities at times, our teams are ensuring that services remain up and running. Although in the fight against Corona Virus, Breaking the Chain is important, but for ensuring the chain remains broken and our customers stay indoors, our service and support teams are ensuring that their chain remains strong.
The role of the media, broadcasting and distribution platforms like SITI in not shutting shop, but instead forging ahead is commendable to say the least. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
