Kerala BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has filed a defamation notice of Rs 100 crore against TV channel Reporter TV, alleging that the channel ran false and misleading reports linking him to a controversial land deal.

According to media reports, this notice has been sent to nine people through Mumbai-based law firm RHP Partners, which includes several senior journalists including the channel's owner Anto Augustine.

According to the complaint, Kochi-based Reporter TV repeatedly aired news linking Chandrashekhar's name to a land deal with a company called BPL, even though he had no connection with that company.

The notice stated that these reports were intended to tarnish his image and misuse his position as BJP state president. The BJP leader stated that he would not allow his political or personal credibility to be damaged through false news and misleading propaganda campaigns.

The legal notice demands the channel to withdraw these false news and issue a public apology within seven days, failing which further legal action will be taken.

Meanwhile, BPL Limited has also issued a clarification, calling these allegations completely baseless and without facts. The company stated that allegations of irregularities in the allocation of industrial land had been made previously, but were dismissed by the Supreme Court in 2003. In its statement, BPL said, "The current allegations are false and have no legal basis."
