Odisha’s Kalinga TV, which is known for its fearless, impartial and responsible journalism, celebrated its 12th foundation day on Wednesday.
Marking 11 years of trust, success and public service, a special event was organised at Swosti Premium in Bhubaneswar. Guests at the ceremony lauded Kalinga TV and its founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta for the channel’s vision and contribution.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries said that Kalinga TV does more than just broadcasting news. It has successfully fulfilled its social responsibility by taking people’s voices to the government and administration. They also extended their wishes for the channel’s future journey.
Former Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal attended the event as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, senior MLA Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo, Chairman & Editor in Chief – BW Business world Annurag Batra, and Times Group Managing Editor Shamsher Singh. In their addresses, they spoke positively about Dr. Achyuta Samanta and Kalinga TV and offered valuable suggestions.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of Kalinga TV, delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests. Advisor Umapada Bose and Chief Editor Soumyajit Pattnaik also spoke on the occasion. All members of the Kalinga TV family and well-wishers were present.
Cuttack Mayor Subash Singh, former MLA Prabhat Biswal, and Kendrapada MLA Ganeswar Behera were among the other guests present.
On this occasion, Dr. Achyuta Samanta made several major announcements for the welfare of employees. He announced group insurance of Rs 5 lakh for families of 352 employees, an increase in remuneration for stringers, and that 10% of stringers will be given permanent employment every year.
In his address, former Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal praised the foundation, vision and social responsibility of Kalinga TV. He highly appreciated Dr. Achyuta Samanta as a liberal personality with deep commitment to spirituality, humanity and Jagannath culture.
Senior journalist Annurag Batra said that success should bring humility, not arrogance, and stressed the importance of factual and positive journalism in today’s media age.
Likewise, Shamsher Singh said the real strength of any news channel lies in its reporters and field team, and it is their hard work that helps a channel earn public trust. He added that even in the age of AI and digital media, credible journalism remains the biggest strength of media.
Advisor Umapada Bose and Chief Editor Soumyajit Pattnaik thanked all the guests and employees.
As part of the celebrations, a total of 12 top employees of the organization were felicitated. Members of the Kalinga TV Board of Directors were also honoured.
