India TV institutes Yuva Awards to recognise youths for their work

India TV has instituted the Yuva Awards which will recognise youths for the extraordinary work done by them in their respective fields. The first ever Awards will be given away at a ceremony on February 18, 2013.

Announcing the inception of the Awards, Ritu Dhawan MD & CEO, India TV said, “Yuva Awards is a humble attempt to inspire iconic potential of young Indians, who will take our nation to newer heights. These youth icons will be those who have already displayed enormous potential and made it big at their young age. They have created benchmarks in their respective fields and brought pride to our nation.”

The awards will be given away in six categories – Politics, Sports, Music, Film, Television and Business.

The honorees for the inaugural annual property by India TV will be decided through a stringent process. This involves the tabulation and stratified research by a renowned international research agency, India TV viewers’ votes and the diligent deliberations by the Jury.

The high powered jury will be chaired by sarod maestro Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan. The panel comprises of Kapil Dev, Padma Shree Vandana Luthra and Prof Pushpesh Pant. Rajat Sharma, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, India TV will also be part of the Jury.

Talking to exchange4media about the thought process behind this award, Dhawan said, “Though youth has always been the building block of a nation, during last few months we have seen an upsurge in youth power. They have been on the roads to fight for justice, they have made it big in cinema, music and cricket. The youth have made their presence felt in business and politics. This inspired us to honour youth icons and inspire the youth.”

She further said, “We are a young organisation and relate to the power of youth. India TV as a responsible news channel has always taken a lead in reporting issues of young India. We believe that the initiative with youth as a central idea takes forward our positioning as young, fast paced and an aggressively growing organisation.”

The initiative is being promoted through a 360 degree campaign involving OOH, TV, radio, print and digital, combined with strategic use of digital and print for trade. Real estate company Prateek Group is the Principle sponsor, while Galgotias University is the associate sponsor for this initiative.
