Anil Ambani has filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court against Arnab Goswami and Republic TV.
According to media reports, the case relates to TV programmes that aired news stories about Ambani's financial dealings.
Anil Ambani has claimed that the reports have “seriously damaged his image and reputation”.
According to reports, the petition states that some of the channel's broadcasts contained defamatory content and created a wrong impression about it among the public, business community and investors.
Anil Ambani has requested an interim injunction from the court, prohibiting the channel and Arnab Goswami from showing or publishing any material that is derogatory to him until a full decision is reached on the matter.
The petition also states that if such programmes continue, their personal and professional image may suffer further damage, which will be difficult to compensate.
The matter is likely to come up for hearing before a bench headed by Justice Milind Jadhav on April 1. The case is currently in its preliminary stages, and the court will decide whether to grant Anil Ambani any temporary relief.
