12th October: World Arthritis Day

Arthritis is not about older people feeling pain in the joints of their body. There are many kinds of arthritis - some affect children, while some can be felt in seemingly unrelated organs like the eye!

‘Don’t Delay, Connect Today’ is the call to action this World Arthritis Day. Get yourself checked at the earliest.

Arthritis is a serious issue because even the doctors don’t look for it, until the patients are at an advanced stage. Would you wait until it’s too late to find out what ails your brand?

Disclaimer: We are using the word "Arthritis" as metaphor and not the absolute meaning of the disease, this is not an effort to demean the hazards of the actual disease.

13th October: No Bra Day

No Bra Day is an initiative to spread awareness about breast cancer. 2 million new cases were screened in 2018 alone.

Learn more about early detection here: http://bit.ly/2VBtw1j

And then look at how #AI is helping discover cancer in the densest of breast tissues: http://bit.ly/2MzuTJP

Talking about breast cancer is a sensitive issue because it can appear sexualising women bodies. Look at some good and not so good campaigns here: http://bit.ly/33tDzZj

Apart from the ad campaigns, the call to action (going without bras) is a way to get men and women talk about breast cancer. But it can only be successful if more and more women get themselves screened.

Would you help spread the word?

14th October: World Standards Day

World Standards Day pays tribute to the experts who develop international standards across all industries. This year, the theme is: ??? “Video standards create a global stage”.

Understandably so because video is 1 of the 3 Vs here to stay in digital marketing.

Videos are fun but they can also be expensive to produce. You must be thorough in your understanding of what a video is, what it’s supposed to do for you. Or you’ll be just burning your money!

Here are a list of resources that will help you get started with your video strategy:

Complete Guide with Helpful Optimisation Tips: http://bit.ly/35ARsXA

The Definitive Guide to promote videos to increase conversions: http://bit.ly/2OKp8fi

Tell us what you’ve been sure and not-so-sure about your videos. What has worked for you? Do you need help in fixing what hasn’t worked?

15th October: Global Handwashing Day

Over 1000 children in India die everyday because they do not wash their hands with soap. Yes, access to hygiene is a privilege!

Check out Savlon & its Cannes 2018 winning campaign here: http://bit.ly/2IOVEsY

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the digital devices you own, the digital communication you’ve got to be a part of everyday (emails, chats, social media & so on), then you need to think about your DIGITAL HYGIENE too.

2 standpoints:

Here’s the very wise @thisissethsblog. His idea? Simple. Ask someone else to observe your use of digital devices. Maybe you yourself have been doing more harm than good: https://seths.blog/2019/05/digital-hygeine/

Here’s a more radical piece on how digital hygiene is about larger socio-cultural issues. It is not conducted to blame individual users – they didn’t create the mess!: https://reallifemag.com/digital-hygiene/

Let us know what you think about the clutter. We could help you cut through it and get you just what you need.

16th October: World Food Day

Out of all the food produced on our planet, one-third is wasted. The food that remains, kills people because of overeating at the expense of killing the rest of the population with hunger.

This year’s theme on World Food Day is ‘Zero Hunger’. It's message is to promote healthy diet for all.

So, here’s food for thought: while most of us sit in offices fantasising about what food they’ll taste from whose lunch box, there are so many who just want food – plain and simple. Food, for them, is a luxury.

Think about how digital tech can help correct the imbalance in the concentration of food.

Read how big data can help reduce food wastage: http://bit.ly/35CzdAJ

  1. Watch the documentary Digital Food, about how tech is helping bring nutrition to everyone: http://bit.ly/35EV4Yz
  2. Listen to The Secret History of the Future episode on plant-based meat: http://bit.ly/2Mh2Ekm
  3. Catch a quick glimpse into 3D food printing, the new cooking: http://bit.ly/2pqOmEE

Instead of thinking about what’s on the menu, think about where all the food is coming from. It can help you to not only understand the supply chain better but can also amaze you with the digital transformation happening in the food industry.

17th October: Forgive an Ex Day

People have their hearts broken in love. Some choose to forgive and move on. It’s not easy. But who said it is?

Someone who seemed to be pretty loyal and then, just like that, s/he broke all ties with you. Your emails started landing up in spam. You were blocked. You were maligned. Or you were simply ignored. This hurts the most!

Yes, it’s not just about former lovers but also about former customers too! Rather than blaming them, you could focus on what exactly went wrong, when it all started to change.

To have better relationships in future (with your customers at least), use tech to get insights that can help you. CRM, data analytics, deep learning – there are tools for everything. Read:

18th October: No Beard Day

Some days are just fun. No convincing reason for them to be celebrated. Women may not care about it. Men who shave regularly won’t make much sense of it anyway. Men who are clean shaven always won’t bother either. No Beard Day would be a pain to guys like our mascot. We’re surprised we did this to him!

Let’s take this day to give a shout out to top women digital marketing influencers. And then to the male ones who don’t sport a beard.

Start following them if you don’t already!
