WhatsApp, Meta AI app to get Incognito Chat feature in coming months

Meta also says it plans to roll out Side Chat feature on WhatsApp over the next few months

Meta is launching 'Incognito Chat' with Meta AI on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app, aimed at providing a private mode for confidential AI conversations.
The feature utilizes WhatsApp's Private Processing technology, ensuring that conversations are temporary, not accessible to anyone else, and disappear after the session ends.
Messages exchanged in Incognito Chat are processed securely and are not stored, enhancing user privacy for sensitive discussions.
Meta also plans to introduce 'Side Chat' on WhatsApp, allowing users to receive AI assistance within ongoing conversations without disruption.

Meta has announced the rollout of ‘Incognito Chat’ with Meta AI on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app over the coming months, introducing a private mode for AI conversations aimed at users seeking greater confidentiality.

The feature is built on WhatsApp’s Private Processing technology and is designed to allow users to hold temporary conversations with Meta AI that cannot be accessed by anyone else, including Meta itself. It is intended for users discussing sensitive or personal topics such as health, financial or career-related matters.

According to the company, messages exchanged during an Incognito Chat are processed in a secure environment, are not stored, and disappear by default after the conversation ends.

The company added that unlike some existing “incognito-style” AI chat modes offered by other platforms, Incognito Chat has been designed so that neither incoming questions nor outgoing responses are visible to Meta.

Meta also said it plans to introduce ‘Side Chat’ on WhatsApp in the coming months. The feature, also powered by Private Processing, will allow users to receive AI assistance within WhatsApp conversations without interrupting the main chat.
