Reliance Infocomm has begun migrating its Delhi subscribers to an exclusive ten-digit series beginning 93 from Monday. This has been done in keeping with the cellular mobile numbering plan in India under the new Unified License Regime. The move comes close on the heels of the successful migration to the 93 numbering in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Gujarat.
With this migration, all calls from any phone in Delhi to a RIM phone within the circle will be local calls and can be dialed without prefixing the STD code, and fixed line users can call RIM customers without having STD facility. In addition, RIM subscribers in Delhi can call each other by simply dialing the new ten-digit number.
“Migration to the new 93-series is being done in a phased manner across the country. All RIM subscribers – post-paid and pre-paid will soon have the new ten-digit number. To make this transition convenient for our subscribers, we have ensured that they will continue to receive messages and calls to their old numbers till November 30, 2004,” said Inder Bajaj, Head, Special Projects.
Subscribers are being proactively advised about their new ten-digit numbers through telephonic calls and messages, apart from mailers and press advertisements, he said. Reliance Infocomm has over 9 million customers across the country.
