The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 20 February.
Following the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasised that India is making immense strides in AI and is poised to become a global hub for talent and innovation.
The Prime Minister extended an invitation to the international community to invest in India’s talented youth, adding vigour to this transformative sector.

Altman, at India AI Impact Summit 2026, called AI the most consequential tech shift of our time, warning that job transformation will be its first major impact. In linking AI’s evolution to India’s democratic context, he shared, “The world’s largest democracy is well positioned to lead AI — not just to build it, but to shape it and decide what our future is going to look like.”
