In what is believed to be a first for the Indian entertainment industry, filmmaker Kushal Srivastava and OTT strategist Pep Figueiredo have launched a web series titled Vedaant – The Epic Show, which is entirely AI-produced—from actors and visuals to graphics and execution.
Produced under the banner of Vedshaala, in collaboration with Flying Dreams Entertainment, the first episode of the series, “Samudra Manthan”, was released in June. It has garnered over one lakh views on social media platforms including YouTube, Meta, Instagram, Vimeo and Dailymotion within weeks of its release, say producers.
The six-minute episode is based on the mythological tale of Samudra Manthan. It explores the deeper meaning of “Amrit”—the divine nectar that sparked a cosmic battle between Gods and Demons. The story conveys that, in Sanatan Dharma, wealth is respected — but not chased.
Vedshaala, founded by Sarit Agarwal—who also produced the documentary Battle of Ayodhya. The content business and platform strategy have been crafted by digital veteran and former SonyLIV executive, Figueiredo. Srivastava serves as the producer and director of the web series.
Figueiredo tells e4m, “We created visuals using tools like Midjourney, Kling AI, Runway ML and Chat GPT. While video editing was done on Adobe Editor, for Color Grading we took the help of Davinci Resolve.”
The concept was developed in collaboration with spiritual guru Rishi Nanda, who penned the series, bringing depth and authenticity to its philosophical narrative. The production team, including producer Agarwal, leaned heavily on AI tools across the entire production pipeline—a bold move that signals a shift in how storytelling can evolve in the digital age navigating tighter budgets.
With India's streaming platforms constantly looking for innovative, scalable content models, Vedaant – The Epic Show could pave the way for future genre-defying experiments—especially those that intersect AI, spirituality, and low-footprint production models, say experts.
After receiving good reviews, the duo is now working on the next episode of the series.
