Hoop Entertainment has unveiled two new microdrama shows on JioHotstar’s Tadka — SOBO B**tch In Dharavi and Gold Digger Exposed Live.
With the two new titles, Hoop crosses the 30-show mark in the micro-drama ecosystem, having created and produced fiction across platforms, including Kuku TV, Pratilipi, Amazon Fatafat, KlipTV, Quick TV and TikTok.
For Hoop, the scale of that slate has also become something of a learning laboratory. Over the past few months, the company has worked across revenge, romance, family drama, crime, horror, hidden-identity and youth-driven narratives — experimenting with different hooks, episode durations, pacing and storytelling structures to understand what keeps audiences coming back in a format built for quick, mobile-first consumption.
“Micro-drama is not simply television made shorter. It requires a completely different storytelling grammar,” says Nikhil Mirchandani, Founder, Hoop Entertainment. “The hook has to land almost immediately, the stakes need to keep escalating and every episode has to create a reason to continue watching. Working across 30-plus shows and multiple platforms has given us a very granular understanding of how audiences engage with the format.”
The production house has worked with major broadcasters and platforms, including Sony, Star, Zee, Dangal and Audible, with credits including Savdhaan India and Crime Patrol. It also operates a pre-school animation channel on YouTube.
Founded by Mirchandani, Hoop Entertainment draws on nearly two decades of experience across India’s media industry. Mirchandani has held senior leadership positions at Sony Entertainment and Turner International, served as Managing Director – South Asia at National Geographic Channel, and was subsequently EVP & GM at Star India, where he headed Star One, before setting up Hoop Entertainment.
