Zee TV has is launching a reality show, ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek Jalwe Sitaron Ke’, in its weekends. The show is spread over 20 episodes and would hit television screens on June 7, 2008. The show replaces ‘Rawan’, and would be aired on Saturdays and Sundays in the 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm block.

The Delhi High Court on May 30, 2008 issued a notice to Yahoo Inc and its Indian subsidiary, Yahoo Web Services (India), on a suit filed by Super Cassettes Industries Ltd, owner of T-Series, for infringement of their copyright caused by unlicensed hosting of Super Cassettes’ copyright works on Yahoo’s portal.
Indian Express has roped in Pavita Puri as Group Brand Head. She will be reporting to Shekhar Gupta, Editor-in-Chief, Indian Express. Puri will work on developing and re-energising the brands of the Indian Express Group. Her last stint was with Lowe for a year as Vice-President, where she was handling brands like Maruti and DishTV.
The forthcoming Hindi general entertainment channel 'Colors' from Viacom18 is on track for its July deadline. The channel has unveiled two more properties, and if the content mix right now is anything to go by, Colors is clear that it wants different genres in its weekday primetime. The channel also has movies on its agenda.
Ernst & Young recently conducted a survey among industry leaders in the radio sector across 10 companies, which constitute over 70 per cent of the private FM radio market in India, to investigate the challenges and understand the future strategies in the Indian media and entertainment industry. The survey found that the FM stations were optimistic about growth despite hurdles.
The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) has refused to grant any relief to Tata Sky and issued notice to DishTV for further hearing in the case regarding the ‘Free Set Top Box’ ad by DishTV. Tata Sky had filed a complaint on May 29, 2008 before the MRTPC, stating that the ad was misleading and had prayed for an injunction against DishTV’s ad campaign.
TRAI on June 4, 2008 sent the final comments on the draft Satellite Radio Policy as proposed by the I&B Ministry. The Ministry has informed that TRAI’s recommendations have been accepted with some modifications by the Government. Accordingly, the Ministry has framed the draft Satellite Radio Policy guidelines.
